Are you enjoying the silly season?

I’ve always loved the build up to the holidays but this year I’ve been feeling more fatigued than usual. 

The overload was getting a bit much last week so I took the day off and went for a walk in the park, read a book, watched Netflix and napped. It was heaven.

I felt so much better and more energised the next day. It’s funny how even though I know I should rest more when I’m busy, I almost need to give myself permission to prioritise it.

We put so much focus on how we spend our holidays, yet what’s really important is how we manage the crazy busy periods of our lives.

Like choosing to meditate or put your feet up when you’re flat out, not because you can squeeze five minutes into your schedule, but because it’s important for living a good life.

For many of us crazy busy is our lives, or a good chunk of it.

What choices are you making about your life?

This is your reminder to pause or at least slow down this week.

If you can’t see a way to make this happen, ask yourself these questions:

  • What are my real do-or-die priorities this week?
  • What could I not do that no one will even notice, apart from me?
  • Where am I making things hard for myself? Maybe trying too hard to please others?
  • What am I craving more of, and how can I do some of it this week?

Maybe you need a massage or a lunch with friends. Or maybe you need time out on the sofa. If so, I’m giving you permission to go watch Dumplin’ on Netflix right now.
